Aims & Objectives 

To develop and maintain good health and a high level of physical fitness through sports and games. 

To develop good social skills that are needed to forge relationships and relate to others in school and in the society. 

To be able to express themselves and manage their emotions. 

To understand the rules, techniques and strategies involved in sports and games. 

Physical and Health Education Curriculum:
The Physical Education and Sports Development Framework guides the delivery of physical education and sports in the school. It envisions a nation of active and physically competent individuals. The PE curriculum provides strong foundation for the acquisition of fundamental motor skills and movement concepts. Pupils will be participating in a range of fun and interesting sports and games that promotes healthy and actively lifestyles. Pupils will also be encouraged to pursue their interests and will be provided the opportunities to develop their talents. 




The syllabus provides diversity and breadth for schools to plan and implement a well-balanced physical education programme. There are seven learning areas that facilitate the organisation of learning experiences in the primary schools. 



Physical Education in Lower Primary (P1 - P3)

The lower primary level focuses on mastery of fundamental motor skills such as locomotor, non- locomotor and manipulative skills with application of movement concepts to develop efficiency, effectiveness and versatility in students’ performance.

Physical Education in Upper Primary (P4 - P5)

The upper primary level extends on the mastery of discrete skills to focus on more complex combinations and sequences of movements, and skills application in more recognisable forms of activity and games.

Key Programmes


Morning and Recess Play

To encourage pupils to be active, PE equipment such as skipping ropes, colourful giant parachute, soccer balls, frisbees etc are provided in the school’s basketball court and field for the pupils to play each morning before school and during recess. This allows pupils to make good use of their free time to exercise and enjoy the outdoors.

Fitness Playground

The school also created a fitness playground that 5 different challenging stations that help to pupils to improve their balance, muscular strength and agility.

Workout Friday

On Wednesdays, SKGians look forward to start off the day with an exercise routine. Primary 4 and 5 pupils will be engaged in morning jogs in the school field while Primary 1, 2 and 3 pupils will be involved in the JumpJam Workout, a fun and exciting kids aerobic programme. Workout Wednesdays seek to motivate SKGians to enjoy exercise, thus promoting healthy and happy individuals in SKG.

Fruity Veggie Week

Fruity Veggie Week is carried out every year to encourage our pupils to eat healthily. During the Fruity Veggie Week, all staff and pupils are expected to eat 2 fruits and 2 veggies every day. Various activities to reinforce the importance of eating healthily are conducted. This includes assembly talk and interesting recess games.

Games Carnival


Games Carnival is a key SKGPS sporting event that is held on Children’s Day. The aim of the event is to provide opportunity for pupils to apply psychomotor skills that they had learnt during PE lessons, in a fun, cooperative and competitive game environment. These games not only promote mass participation but also put to test both individual and team camaraderie and help build class affiliation, school spirit and bonding among the pupils and teachers.
